Mother Dorothy Burnett
Assistant Pastor

Dorothy Burnett know to most as Mother Burnett was born in Varnado,. Louisiana. She graduated from Wesley Ray High School in Angie, LA. She also graduated from LA Mission College in 1992 with her AA. She continued her higher education at Dominquez University for 2 1/2 years majoring in Accounting and Human Behavior.

In 1965 Mother Burnett began working as an Office Clerk for Varando Elementary School, 1972-1976 she worked as a waitress at Norm's restaurant, and in 1977 she began working for LA Unified School District where she retired in 2003 as a Supervisor.

At the age of 10 Mother Burnett began her faithful journey as a Christian at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Varnado, LA under the late Rev. B. B. Moses until 1969 when her family relocated to Los Angeles. In late 1970 Mother Burnett met and served under the late James L. Hill pastor of LA Church of God and under his leadership accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. During her time at LA Church she served in the capacities of Captain Leader, Usher, and Sunday School Teacher. She served on the Board of Trustees and sung in the choir. She was the Pastor's aide, the Treasurer, the Devotional Leader and committee worker. Whatever her hands found to do she did it with greatness and faithfulness. She has 5 sisters, the mother of 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and the mom's of a nation.

In 2006 she became a member of Word of Truth Community Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Reginald S. Givins, Sr. and First Lady Lorie Givins, and she immediately went to work as the announcement clerk and the Director of Finance. She now humbly serves in the capacity of Assistant Pastoralong with her other duties.
